Mangaluru, March 7: The day of catechism was celebrated in a significant way at the Church of the Holy Rosary of Alangar on March 6th.
Father Anil Fernandes, director of the Canara Communication and Vocation Center, was the main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist and the main guest of the celebration of Catechism Day. He preached on the importance of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. He also gave a short talk to parents and children on how to nurture vocations and respond to God’s call.
The children presented a beautiful cultural program based on the Bible and the faith prepared in three groups, on their own initiative.
No less than 75 children received prizes for having obtained more than 80 points in the catechism exam. A total of 18 children received prizes for writing the highest pages of the Bible copy, 17 students received prizes for writing the highest Bible quotes during the year, 19 students obtained prizes for having prepared a good book of records, 23 children from classes 1 to 3 received prizes for their participation. Regular catechism classes and 13 teachers received a gift of gratitude for dedicating themselves to teaching catechism throughout the year.
Family members of catechism students, members of the Parish Parish Pastoral, members of the Vocations Commission, members of the Bible and Catechism Commission attended the program.
A sumptuous breakfast in the morning and farewell ice creams were served to all.
Santhosh Rodrigues, coordinator with the teachers, the Vocation Commission and the Bible and Catechism Commission organized this program.
Rajesh D’Souza, Commissions Coordinator and Mable Lobo, PPP Secretary were present. Sr. Helen Goveas proposed a vote of thanks.
