Mangaluru: Catechism Day celebrated at Holy Cross Cordel Church

Mangaluru, April 12: Catechism Day was celebrated at the Sainte-Croix Church on Saturday April 10 at 4:30 p.m. with Holy Mass, a theatrical performance and an entertainment program. Father Robert D’Souza, Director of the Central School of Lourdes, Bejai Mangaluru concelebrated Holy Mass as the main celebrant with Father Victor Machado, pastor, Father Lawrence Cutinha, assistant parish priest and Deacon Ivan Dsouza.

In his homily, Father Robert Dsouza reflected on the Gospel of the day and underlined the importance of the Catechism in the life of a Christian. The liturgy of the Holy Mass and the choir were animated by the pupils of the catechism classes.

The stage function began at 6:00 p.m. at Frad Saib Hall. Father Victor Machado presided over the ceremony. Father Robert D’Souza was the main guest. Fr. Father Robert D’Souza, guest of honor in his speech congratulated the students of the catechism classes for their excellent animation of the liturgy and the choir and also underlined the importance of the catechism in the enrichment of the spiritual life. and community of Christians. The top three highest scores in each class from 1 to 10 on the catechism exam received the prizes. Prizes were also awarded for the participation, the project notebook and the album. The teachers took responsibility for coordinating the different aspects of the catechism such as exam participation, the notebook, the project album, etc. Father Victor Machado congratulated the children, teachers and coordinators for organizing the various catechism classes and activities during the pandemic and helping the students strengthen their faith. Pupils from different classes gave a wonderful and much appreciated cultural program. The program included dancing, singing, sketching and mime from different classes. The teachers were recognized for their voluntary service in teaching catechism. The vote of thanks was proposed by Flavia. Jacintha Lobo coordinated the distribution of prizes. Parents and parishioners attended the program in large numbers and appreciated the well-coordinated program.
