Last week I shared the scoop on how your kids can get a free photo with the “movie star” Santa from Owensboro. My friends Bob Dasher and Sandy Meschko (aka Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus) have a variety of photo opportunities planned at local businesses.
Well, there are even more chances to take free photos with Santa here in town. The Precious Blood Catholic Church has released details of a big event they call Pics with St. Nick. It begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday December 4 at the church.
Organizers say the event is a “wonderful opportunity for families to visit and take photos with Santa!” And the great thing is this. All you have to do is bring your phone. They provide the festive and holiday backdrop and, of course, Santa!
And, it’s fun too. One of the really cool parts of Christmas is writing these letters to Santa. My sisters and I have done this every year while growing up. Many people choose to send them to the North Pole. We always took them with us to the Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade and gave them to Santa’s elves who walked by his float. This year, Precious Blood is offering you the opportunity to drop them off in Santa’s mailbox during their photo event.
Photos with St. Nick will run from 11am to 1pm on the 4th. If you plan to attend, you are welcome to use the south entrance of Precious Blood Catholic Church. Santa’s elves will be there to greet you and get you in line to meet the big guy himself.
By the way, the event is absolutely FREE and is sponsored by the River City Pickleball Club.
Owensboro, KY couple celebrate the magic of Christmas
Travis Estes inherited his love of Christmas from his mother and grandmother Del. Each year, he and his wife Tara transform their Owensboro home into a magical winter wonderland. These photos are reminiscent of just about any Christmas carol song lyrics you can think of!
