A special scripture conference is scheduled to take place in person and virtually this month at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, Illinois.
The Summer Conference on the Scriptures, presented by the Mundelein Seminary of the University of Sainte-Marie-du-Lac, is entitled âLet there be light: science and speech, an eternal relationshipâ.
A variety of works by artist Kadie O’Connor are on display at the Legacy Center in Michigan City.
“This is a conference with a long history at Mundelein Seminary,” said Reverend John Kartje, Rector of Mundelein Seminary. The summer conference, now in its 45th year, will take place June 20-25.
Kartje, who is also an astrophysicist, said it was exciting that this year’s conference focused on the relationship between faith and science.
âIt’s not a way we’re used to talking about the Bible,â Kartje said. Each year the conference tackles a different theme.
The priest said the summer conference generally receives good feedback every year. In addition to the in-person conference at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake grounds, people will also have the opportunity to participate in the virtual conference.
The opportunity in person, Kartje said, quickly filled.
It’s something people look forward to every year, he said.
âPeople come from afar,â Kartje said, and will often make repeat visits to the summer event.
